Ball de Benás
Dance music traditional from Benasque (Aragon, Spain) and other localities in the north east of Aragon.
“Ball de Benàs” combines two different tunes, the first one, a jumping 6/8 theme with three sections, matches the melody of the Hymn of Riego — we couldn’t find out which one predates the other.
The second one, a calmer ternary dance is known as “Les marradetes”.
These tunes are danced to in the Ball des omes and the Ball de les dones in Benasque, during the patronal festival of the locality.
This arrangement for low G ukulele is included in Choan Gálvez’s book Fiesta Mayor.
