Milonga Wahine
For this piece, the ukulele is retuned to G B E G—a tuning known as Wahine. This makes playing both a root chord (C) and a dominant chord (G7) as easy as placing just one finger on the fretboard. That’s precisely what the main motive of this tune requires–though it gets… complicated a few bars later.
“Milonga Wahine” is included in the sheet music book Anthology of Alternate Ukulele Tunings, Vol. 1.
It’s dedicatee, Thiago Susán, included a wonderful rendition in his album Cómo suena la madera cuando está seca.
